The correct three-day route begins with an exact time range, not an imitation directory or a list from another Tennessee county.
A 72-hour request can cover three full calendar dates or a rolling interval measured from the moment of the search. Those ranges are not always identical. State the start, end, and local time zone so the custodian can identify existing records. Check Dickson County Three-Day Releases
There is no button to select the last three days on the sheriff site. Build the window as a records question, then use event services to check individual names. Dickson County Weekend Release Window
A three-day span is useful around weekends because court action, bond processing, jail data entry, and a person's physical exit are separate events. A Friday order may not match the custody-exit timestamp. Likewise, a Monday search for “the weekend” can omit part of Friday or include part of Monday unless the endpoints are stated. Use dates and times, not a vague label.
Holidays create the same boundary problem, but the research does not establish a special Dickson holiday release schedule. Commercial directories can appear official because they repeat the jail's name or address. They do not prove that a person was released during the requested window. The same rule applies to social posts. The sheriff's official accounts may carry news or arrest images, but they are not a complete custody-exit log.

Read Dickson Release Events Correctly
The event type controls the meaning of a result. Bond or recognizance usually means physical pretrial release with the case still pending. Time served means the ordered custodial part was credited or completed in that matter. A court order can authorize release, but an unrelated warrant or detainer may delay departure. Dismissal of one charge does not by itself clear all other custody grounds.

A TDOC result can remain useful after county custody ends. FOIL covers Tennessee felony offenders who are current or former state inmates or supervisees, but someone released after a misdemeanor, bond, dismissal, or locally completed term may never appear there. A FOIL non-result cannot cancel a well-documented Dickson County release.
Older Dickson County Release Records
A 72-hour page solves only a recent interval. For an older event, identify the narrowest custodian. The sheriff owns jail booking and custody-exit records. The clerk owns court orders and docket events. TDOC owns state sentence, prison release, and supervision data. Federal systems maintain their own records. One agency is not required to merge all of those sources into a single release history.
Online visibility is not the same as retention. Dickson publishes no web archive, yet an older record may still exist under the county's records schedule. Ask which schedule and category apply to jail logs, booking sheets, and photos. Request by episode and date range. If an evidentiary copy is needed, also ask whether the custodian can certify it.
The Tennessee Public Records Act is mainly found in Title 10, Chapter 7, Part 5. A sufficiently specific request can seek existing public records, while confidential information may be redacted.
